Best way to get from Airport to 6th
My husband and I will be arriving in Paris on Thursday at 10 am and would like to know what people recommend for transportation for 2 from CDG to Hotel Artus in the 6th? Taxi cost vs. PariShuttle or some other van service?

If you want to save a couple of Euro, go for the shuttle. If you are tired after a long overnight flight, take a taxi.
Most, if not all, taxi's accept credit cards in case the ATM is out of order. I would even wager that the driver would stop by an ATM on his way to the hotel so you could get some Euro.

Based on the time of day you are arriving, you can take a cab for the quickest way. Taxi's do charge for time so wouldn't recommend at rush hour as you would pay while they sit but for no delay, that is the way to go. I know alot of people here totally recommend the shuttles and we tried it last month - long story - on another thread - took 4 hours to our hotel which is was about 2 blocks from yours.

We often do a hybrid--Air France shuttle to Gare de Lyon or Gare Montparnasse (the latter might be better for your destination), then a taxi to the hotel. Makes for a very comfortable trip at a not-so-dear price (11 euros for shuttle per person, plus another 5-7 euros for the taxi).
You don't have to fly Air France to ride the AF shuttle, btw.

Your hybrid idea sounds really good to us, can you please provide some more detail? We are arriving via US Airways and are not sure where we find the Air France shuttle. Is there a specific section we must go to?

Air France bus Line 4 goes to Gare Montparnasse, leves every 30 minutes from Gate 34 at Terminal 1,or Gate C2 at Terminal 2. For details, please check:www.Airfrance.com, to travel guide section, then airfrance coaches.

We always take a taxi or a hired car for convenience, and have stayed at the Artus (Buci Latin) many times. Cost is about 45E, and IMO worthwhile as it is a long trip from SFO.
Just FYI we flew home from CDG yesterday and took a 9am taxi to the airport. An accident on the highway pretty much stopped traffic, so our driver took an alternate, longer route. We made it on time, but the cost was closer to 90E. Our driver was racing another taxi who took the more congested road, and we beat him handily (they kept calling each other for updates). In any case, you might have the hotel give you a traffic update the morning of your return flight, to see if you need to budget extra time.
Have a great trip!

Sorry, just saw your 2nd question now. Looks like JudyC has actually answered the question with much more detail than I could, anyway. . .
(We usually just stumble outside all bleary-eyed and look for the sign and the queue.)
Have a great trip!

This is a real easy one. I've been vacationing in Paris, almost annually, since the 70s and have stayed in hotels, regularly in the 6th, since 1980. I know your hotel, very well, if it's the Latin/Buci on rue Buci. My hotel is two minutes around the corner on rue de Seine. Just take the RER.It costs about 8 Euro or you can buy the Paris Visite pass, at the train station at the airport, and use it. It's good for a number of days. When you buy your RER train ticket, at the airport train station, tell them you want to go to Saint Germain-des-Pres area. At the airport, follow the signs that say RER and go to the tracks and get on the train headed for Paris. The airport is where the train will start. Then take the RER train (about 30 minutes) get off at the Saint Michel-Notre Dame stop. When you exit the train go to your left and you will see a very steep escalator. Go up the escalator and when you get to the top, hang an immediate left and you will be entering the CLUNY subway area.Insert your SAME ticket, that you used from the airport. Now follow the sign that says Direction - Boulogne Pont de St.Cloud...Line 10. Direction means that that station is the last stop on that line. However you will NOT be going to the last stop. You only have to go two stops to Mabillon...5 minutes. Get off at Mabillon and go up to the street level there you'll see the busy Boulevard St. Germain. Cross the street and rue Buci is right there and the hotel a two minute walk.I've been doing this for decades. I was, on vacation in Paris, both last month and in November. Another really good hotel, and cheaper than the Latin/Buci is the Hotel de Seine at 52 rue de Seine just a half block north of rue Buci. I lived at that hotel for 10 years of trips to Paris. I remember when the Latin/Buci...then another name... was $15. a night! That area has really increased in price. Bon Voyage.

For me the best way from CDG to the 6th district is to take a regulated taxi. Of course it is not the cheapest way. But for me it is well worth the cost 10 a.m. I think the traffic going into Paris will be not too bad. On my departure from Paris a few months ago I left my hotel at 6:30 a.m. and I got to the airport in no time as all the traffic was going into Paris.
Alot of people recommend the RER but like I said I personally prefer taking a taxi.

Unless you're on an incredibly tight budget, to me a taxi is the only way to go after getting of a long-haul flight. That early in the morning you probably won't get your room (but you might get lucky), you can at least drop your bags, be in your neighborhood and get your trip started with minimal stress.
