best way from San Gimignano to Rome?

Hi,
We will be traveling Sunday May 1 from San Gimignano to Rome. Does anyone know the best way to get from San G. to Rome? I have read that many buses don't run on May 1, a holiday, and it looks like the trains from Siena are limited and and a long ride with a train switch in Chiusi. Thanks for your help!

Nornie - I would think your best bet would be to catch the bus to Florence and take the train from there.

Florence-Rome is about 1hr 35' by Eurostar. You can find timetables on:
www.trenitalia.it

Hope this helps ...

The best way is to catch a bus to Poggibinsi (about 10 min drive from San Gimignano) and take the train from there.

Hi N,

That's PoggibOnsi. The train goes via Empoli and Florence.

I would look at the schedules for the bus to Poggibonsi, change for the bus to Florence and train from there
OR
Bus to Poggibonsi, bus to Siena, bus to Florence and train from there.

See http://www.sangimignano.net/bus/
and
http://www.sita-on-line.it/

I don't think that you can do this easily.

Sorry! Typing error. It is Poggibonsi of course.
But why make a simple train trip so difficult? There are trains running almost every hour. The ride takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes. Bus will take you much longer. True, there are faster trains from Florence, but bus ride from San Gimignano to Florence can take over an hour.

Hi eri,

I wasn't trying to make it difficult, just giving the OP all of the options.
