Best way from airport to centre of Florence?

I am going to Florence for a week in October and would like to know the best way to get to the city centre from the aiport. I am staying on Via dei Servi near the Duomo and am wondering if a taxi to take me straight there would be expensive. Any tips please?

A taxi will probably not be terribly expensive. The Florence airport is quite small, and locatedabout 5-7 miles west of the city itself. I think there is probably bus service also, to the train station (less than a mile to the Duomo).

Best wishes,

Rex
If you want to go straight to the hotel and not walk from the station, I suggest the taxi from the airport. Your hotel is in the historic center so no cars can go there, but taxi's can. As Rex said, it is a short distance to the airport. The hassle of a bus and then walking or taxi isn't worth it.

Make very sure that you are landing in Firenze and not in Pisa. The airport in Pisa is larger and fit for bigger airplanes than the 1.5 lanes Firenze airport (the half lane is the highway that runs parallel to the only lane of the airport: once an airplane had to land there!). If you are arriving in Pisa, there are trains departing every hour from the airport to Firenze Santa Maria Novella station.
