Best town for seafood

My husband and I will be in Italy in mid October. We plan to fly into Rome, spend 4 nights then travel north for 4 - 5 nights to a town from which we can fly to London, we're flexible. We're struggling to decide among all the gorgeous places to visit, and may try to do 2 nights here, 2 nights there, etc. My husband wants to go somewhere that we can get the absolute BEST freshest seafood possible. Any suggestions? (and any other advice is appreciated also) Thank you!!

Just to clarify, I meant best place to get excellent seafood between Rome and somewhere north, such as Bologna or Genoa.

We have had wonderful seafood dishes in Portovenere, Santa Margherita Ligure, and Portofino. I would guess that the seafood between Portovenere and Genoa is pretty good in general, but I have had memorable seafood dishes in the above towns.

Maybe if you go on the Adriatic Coast, between Ancona and Cervia you can find several towns which really they are among the best towns for seafood.
If it can become your choice I can send you, if you want, the smart advices.

MNapoli: I am headed that way soon. Are there any specific restaurants in that town that you would recommend?

Yes, OSTERIA N. 7, I agree with ekscrunchy.
Even it is not the restaurant you can imagine to meet in SML: no nice view and not so very elegant.

Others on my list for SML include:

U Batti; Trattoria Cesarina; and La Paranza. I would love to hear more details about these and any others, for moderately priced regional food.
