Best time to buy August tickets NYC to Paris?

We're doing a home exchange with someone in Paris, and are looking to book a flight for the middle two weeks of August.

Right now, the best price we can get is fare + fees and taxes for $860 a person. Should we buy now, or wait for tickets to go on sale at a later point?

I did see something mentioned about BA starting service from NY to Paris on its airline Open Skies in June.
Maybe they will announce some new fares.

Hi R,

$860 in mid Aug is a good price.

From where are you departing?

Unless I saw something less than $700, I would hold off for a while. August is a long way away. You may not beat the price, but I don't think a price you see 7 months out will be the best you are going to do.

I would also see if I could wait it out for the Continental BusinessFirst sales, as these have featured Business class fares for prices approaching coach fares - not $700, surely, but I know there were $1000 business fares for the most recent sale during November and December.

I'd throw into the mix that July/August is high season, so waiting does carry some risk

I think it is a good fare, also, but don't think you need to lock anything up now for August, you have a couple months to see how it goes. I wouldn't book it if it is Air India.
