Best source for events/fetes in the Languedoc?

Seven of us will be staying in a gite between Narbonne and Carcasonne in late July and early August. I'm hoping to identify a few local events that we can plan to attend. I've not had much luck finding up-to-date sites that list local or regional events. Any site information would be most appreciated, or suggestions as to great events (or markets) that you may know of that are "can't miss".

I think Narbonne does have a market, of course, all cities of that size do in France -- I think I may have been there,, as I visited it one day. It's a nice town. They have a "brocante" fair in July (which is used goods, sometimes translated as "junk", often with antiques, perhaps you know that).

This is one general website listing brocante fairs:
http://www.pagesbrocantes.com/

They show one in Narbonne today and tomorrow, but I'm not sure if that's the only one the whole month.

I hope you read French as that will be the best source of info -- local newspapers and websites. Did you look at the tourisme websites for those cities? They usually have pretty good info. Here is the one for Narbonne
http://www.mairie-narbonne.fr/

It lists all kinds of things in the "manifestations" or "actualites" sections, such as a world music festival from July 11 to Aug 22, and a Jazz Festival from 8/2 to 8/5. I think those sections may only be in French, and the English portion just general tourist info, not sure. YOu can probably find things when you are there at the tourists offices, though.

Here is the Carcassonne tourism website, which has an even better manifestations section as you can search by month
http://www.carcassonne-tourisme.com

They show an organ festival on Sundays (free organ concerts at the basilica), as well as patrimoine festival on treasures of their churches in July/Aug with special exhibits and lectures. They have a highlights section that seems to be in English, and mentioned the Cite festival during July.

Thanks St. Cirq, Christina. I'll check through these. It helps to know to look in the "manifestations" or "actualites" sections.

When we were in Sarlat for dinner one night two years ago, the street theatre was fantastique, and we're hoping to run across other events that are as entertaining.

www.culture.fr is an info site on more than 210 events throughout France this summer - and updates other months as well.
