Best Scenic Driving Route Paestum to Matera
Which would you recommend: After taking hiway 166 east from Paestum, 1) a southern route on 598 toward Grumentum, and then north on 176 to Pisticci and then highway 7 into Matera. OR 2) hiway 166 north to 95 to Potenza and then east all the way to Matera on hway 7. Both appear on my map as scenic routes. Castelmazzano & Pietrapertosa would be fantastic to experience, but probably too far off these routes to make it to Matera by nightfall?
