I agree with dinesea and simpsonc510 that the 6th is a great location. I was in Paris a week ago and we stayed at the Hotel Madison on the Blvd St. Germaine in the 6th. It was an excellent location - very close to a couple metro stops and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. We were steps away from a couple famous brasseries where we could pop in late night for one last glass of wine before bed. We could also walk to several attractions (Louvre, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Garden, St. Chappelle and Musee D'Orsay to name a few). The hotel was very comfortable, quiet and had larger rooms than many of the hotels I have stayed in in Paris. I thought the bed was very comfortable and I loved the shower (although I will never understand why French people think a little glass partition works as a shower curtain). I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Paris.

I have been to Paris numerous times and have stayed in several different areas. This trip where we stayed in the 6th clinched it for me - that is where I will stay from now on.

Have a great trip!

p.s. I have mentioned this before, but I have to put in another plug for the Fat Tire bike tours when you are in Paris. We have done the day one, the night one twice and this last trip we did the day trip to Giverny. We all agreed the bike tours were the highlight of our trip.

I loved the Robinet d'Or hotel on Canal St Martin. Nice "branché" area, Close to Gare de l'Est as a public transport hub. Wonderful staff, nice bar and restaurant.

deebubb,

I have friends who stay at this one every fall:

They have a corner room with balcony that faces the Eiffel Tower. If you like the western part of the 7th, you might check it out. 2 metros and many, many buses, restauants etc.

Wherever you decide to stay, you will be in Paris and will enjoy..

a bientot...
