Hello, my husband and I will be in Paris for two nights (Saturday and Sunday) in September and I would like to find a special restaurant to take him for his 40th birthday celebration. We plan on going to Le Comptoir du Relais on Sunday night and want something more "fancy" for Saturday night. We are foodies at heart and love wine - so tasting menus are always appreciated. We are staying in St. Germain and while it would be easier to stay relatively close, we're open to anywhere. I have heard Le Restaurant is a good option. Can anyone support that? Any other places we should consider? Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

We really like Ze Kitchen Gallerie. It has tasting menus (Asian fusion cuisine)and is located in St. Germaine. It also has a Michelin star. Hard to make suggestions as you did not specify price range or cuisine preferences.

Local friends just had dinner at Le Restaurant and could not stop raving about it. They LOVED their meal.

My go to is L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (St Germain des Pres location). We also love Le Comptoir. We go to both on every trip.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Ciel de Paris. One of the things we really enjoyed was being able to look AT the Tour Eiffel. The food was excellent and the service top notch.

If you don;t have a budget, you can try out Guy Savoy. It has 3 michelin stars and its the place to enjoy your meal. A 6 course meal there can last you for 3 hours.

I second denisea's recommendation of Robuchon. (On Montalembert) Have been there twice.
Given the nature of the seating it always turns into a very convivial evening.
(And the food ain't bad either…)

I think Le Grand Vefour or Laperouse would be my choices - food is great at both, and the atmosphere is as romantic as you could ever hope to find in Paris.

I'm all for great food, but the atmosphere and uncomfortable seating in a lot of the restaurants headed by "media chefs" just leaves me cold.

Celebration restaurant: Le Train Bleu. In the Gare de Lyon.

I like Le Timbre, but it is not atmospheric.

Le Violon d'Ingres used to be my favourite restaurant of all time, but have not been in 10 years.
