best method of transportation to our flat

we will be staying at Praca Luis de Camoes, nr 28-3 A, Chiado and would like to know the best method of transportation from the airport. three of us will more than likely take a cab, but our 4th party will be coming in solo and would prefer public transportation. any info will be appreciated.

Is there a "Pages Jaunes WORLD MAP"? We could just search the address.

LOL! Funny thread.

This question comes up every now and then, and my opinion seems to be consistent with the overwhelming consensus: The fourth person should take a cab.

The distances are very short, and the price should be well under 12 euros. There are public city buses that go to the airport, but nothing that I know of like the Air France buses in Paris. And the metro does not go to the airport

The one concern that comes up a lot on this board is that taxi drivers in Lisbon may take advantage of you if you don't speak Portuguese. The suggestions I have in that regard are twofold: first, to make sure that they start their meters when you leave the airport; and second, if you think you've been ripped off, to talk to the doorman of the hotel when you arrive (though that obviously won't apply to you if you are in an apartment). I've been ripped off several times myself, even though I speak decent basic Portuguese, but never in huge amounts. I believe there is also a way to pre-pay for a taxi voucher at the airport itself (at the tourist information center in the arrivals hall), but I believe they charge a good deal more, around 16 euros I think.

It looks like you are getting the info you need but FYI just so you have an easier time using this site in future:

"i thought i was on the lisbon site" _ There is no Portugal site, let alone a Lisbon one. There is just a "Europe" board. All threads (whether about London, Russia, Vienna, Lisbon, whatever) are lumped together on one forum. Clicking on "Portugal" lets folks search for info about that country.

So it is best to make your titles and the body of your posts as detailed as possible.

cubby,
So you are staying in the now infamous apt! I first mentioned this apt back in Jan. as we were planning our trip. If you read through the Lisbon threads, you will see that the apt is so centrally located and very, very nice. We are a family of four and opted to travel by taxi to/from the airport. It is really close and won't cost much at all- it really just isn't worth the hassle of the bus, especially with luggage.

On another note, have you made plans to have dinner with Lobo and Matt? Trust me when I say, it will be one of the highlights of your trip.

Don't waste anymore time! Get in touch with Lobo or Matt to set something up. They may already have something in the works; the more, the merrier.

Hope you enjoy Lisbon and the apt as much as we did and be sure to give us a trip report.
