Best location for winter sunset in Florence

Hello everyone,

I'm off to Florence at the end of January, for 2 days and 1 night. This will be my second trip there, but the first for my boyfriend.

My boyfriend has always wanted to see sunset, so want to make this trip extra special for him.

But can't seem to decide where would be the best place to watch the sunset, in winter:

a) Piazzale Michelangelo (where i watched the sunset August 09....amazing)

b) From San Minato Al Monte

c) From Fiosole

Can you guys please help, thank you

Hi V,

I suggest the terrace of the Bar Bleu in Fiesole.

It is heated in Winter.

The bus stops right in front. Take the no. 7 from the East side of the SMN Station - 20 min about 1E.

You can have dinner in Fiesole.

Enjoy your visit.

We were in Florence again just this last December and visited Piazzale Michelangelo for the sunset. As you know, there is always a bride and groom with photographer present whatever the season. The small bar on the terrace just below the main level was closed for renovations and the season, I suspect. The sunset was another spectacular and gentle reminder of the beauty of Florence.

Your call but I'd have a hard time passing up a quick visit to San Miniato and a drink during twilight at one of the bars near the PM. Enjoy!

Cold is relative. We were there in late December and needed coats, gloves, scarves, but we live in Florida.

I think the view from Piazza Michelangelo is unmatched. Personal opinion. Buon viaggio!
