Best Location for Car Pickup in Naples
We once got a rental car from an agency several blocks removed from the Naples main train station. Finding our way out of town was a nightmare, despite my speaking Italian. Can anyone recommend a car agency/location for relatively easy egress from downtown Naples?

How about pick it up at the airport? Taxi out there is a flat fare of about 35e (as I recall) or you can get an airport bus at the central train station. Don't know the cost.
Don't know where you are headed, but people often take a train (or a ferry) for the first part of their journey, to a smaller town with a car rental office and then keep going.

I go to Naples frequently, since we have family there. I always rent a car here in the US from Hertz, and pick it up across the street from the train station, in the Hotel Terminus. One thing that I'm sure that many people renting an auto in Naples do not know, is that if one rents a car from that very location, free parking is included with the rental. The unlimited use of the parking garage adjacent to the train station is fantastic! You don't have to worry about anything happening to the car whenever you park there. I guess Hertz has that policy so that they can keep their cars safe.

Thanks for your responses. Rental rates when vehicles are picked up at airports are increased considerably as opposed to pickups in town...but if doing so results in a less harried exit from the city, that will be our choice!

Renting a car at the train station is easy. You don't pay the airport rate, and if you have to get onto the Autostrada, it's pretty simple to get there from the train station, (Napoli Centrale). From there, you can drive north or south on the Autostrada. You take Via Ferraris, which is adjacent to the station, and stay on it until you get to the Autostrada entrance,
