Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding. A great pub (whose name I no longer remember) in Birmingham England. The best part was choosing whicg type of cream to accompany -- whipped cream, poured cream, ice cream, devon cream, etc...

I have never forgotten a dessert I was given in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon Ireland many years ago-it was a served in a bowl-had an apple tart (pie) on the bottom and warm vanilla custard that was REALLY creamy on top with a drizzling of fresh ruhbarb (sp?) on the very top. It was heavenly! (I try to recreat it at home with warm apple pie and then Birds (brand) custard on top in a bowl. Can't do the fresh ruhbarb though). Yum!
Patti

Bird's custard - a true food of love.

Mr Bird, recently married to Mrs Bird, was mortified by his wife's disastrous craving for custard. Every time custard was offered, she would fall victim to her wilful desire, only for her allergy to eggs to lay her low shortly afterwards. He hated to see her suffer, so he vowed to invent a custard that his true love could eat and enjoy without trepidation. He succeeded, and his recipe is still available today.
