Thanks for bringing this up!
A wonderful restaurant in where elseParis!! (I'll never remember the name) almond pastry topped with fresh whipped cream, chopped pistachios, another almond pastry with a glazed strawberry on top! My eyes glaze over just remembering how decadent it was!!

Not a big dessert person myself, but for some reason, the only dessert that stands out in my mind was a chilled dish of vanilla ice cream topped with wonderful fresh raspberries! Somewhere in Tirol...
Actually, I suppose my prefered "dessert" is a nice glass of local red wine. (and some yummy cheese)

Years ago in a dimly lit bistro in the 6th of Paris I ordered Crepes Grand Marnier. When my dessert came it was about 8 inches in diameter, and when I tried to cut into the brownish "crepe" on top I realized that it was a carmel crust. The waiter had brought me a huge creme brulee, but I couldn't stop eating it as it was the best I had ever tasted. When he returned and I had finished I thanked him for the wonderful creme brulee, saying "I don't think this was the crepes Grand Marnier, but it was the best dessert I ever had!" He exclaimed, "Mon dieu! My mistake" and disappeared to return to us minutes later with two orders of the crepes Grand Marnier, actually warm crepes folded over and filled with a Grand Marnier souffle and drizzled with more Grand Marnier over the top. That was then the best dessert I ever had! So I had the two best desserts I ever had both in the same night! Is it any wonder I never understand all this bunk about the rude and unfriendly Parisians?

Tiramisu at the Devil's Bridge Restaurant (can't remember the Italian name, but it is the only restaurant on the way to the church)on Torcello when we were in Venice in November. It was raining and cold outside, and we were the only people in the restaurant--practically the only tourists on the island. We had good hot coffee with it and all of the kind attentions of the owner.
