Oh, and I forgot to mention that the chocolate mousse at Chez Janou in the Marais is to die for! It was seriously the best we've ever had.

Merci Bien Grandmere, I will be staying at the Bonaparte again and will try the Petit St.Benoit.Usually my Granddaughter loves to go back at the same place so that she can order her favourites dish..

Mules and Frites..But although that I enjoy this type of food, I really need a change..

When I took my sisters to Paris we went to Le Sud-Ouest Monceau, 8 rue Meissonier, and they were charmed. It is a very old fashioned place and the cassoulet was very delicious. They use a very large bean that must be cooked all day. Yummy. The first time we went, we ate outside. The street isn't busy so it was quite pleasant. They were amused by the toasters on the table, but then my sisters are quite easily amused. When my daughter arrived in Paris, they wanted her to go there as well so we went again.

One of my sisters ordered a salad. When it came there were chicken livers on it which she had not expected. Someone took a picture of her - head cocked to one side, quizzical expression, what is ziss - priceless.

The restaurant also sells produits de terroir. My sister picked up a bag of the big beans they use in cassoulet.

They also liked Le Bistrot de 7eme, 56 blvd. La Tour Maubourg. Quite simple French fare but they liked the attentive wait staff, and the prices. It was nice.

Our splurge was La O's a Moelle which they REALLY enjoyed. La Cave de l'O's a Moelle is across the street but we didn't try it.

L'Affriole was my daughter's favorite but not that cheap.

My husband and I enjoyed Chez Janou last year but I wouldn't call it inexpensive. Fun though.

Our best fish came from the market at Bastille. Fresh Norwegian salmon. It was the best salmon I have ever eaten.

Oh YEAH, chocolate mousse at Chez Janou. I almost forgot, bellairegirl. They bring you a huge bowl the size of a mixing bowl and let you serve yourself. Dangerous!

To answer the OP's question, and for anyone else looking for a well-priced dinner restaurant, Le Petit Bougnat was great. €17 prix-fixe menu for dinner.

<b>Metro: Ternes
118, Boulevard de Courcelles

Kerouac was not being rude! You were the one being snippy, Plastic boy. Chill out and stay off this forum if you can't handle it.

Just wanted to report on our recent experience with Bistrot du Peintre. We were there last Saturday and it was, by a fair amount, our worst dining experience in two weeks in France. "Greasy spoon" was the term that kept going through my mind. I was truly surprised after all I'd heard both here and elsewhere online, but it simply was not good. The couple from Dublin at the table next to us, looking for a special meal for their last night in town, expressed similar disappointment.

Our best meals in Paris? Le Tastevin and Chez Ferdnand.

Le ferrandaise (8 rue de Vaugirard) (near Luxembourg Gardens) Cow pictures all over the walls! Ate in upper level. Little more cozy. But dinner............fabulous. Had reservation but busy. Enjoyed a free glass of wine while we waited!

I'll second Le Tastevin. That place was really good, and really cute!
