Hi Ellen,
Unfortunately, I can't book until I get home tonight to make sure all the info in our passports are correct. I found a good fare for Swiss/Lufthansa for May 9-25, less than $1100, getting into Venice at 6:45 pm, layover not too long, etc. I pray that it will still be there tonight. Unfortunately, I checked with Sandro and Walter and they don't have availability for 10,11,12,13 but did say they'll be renovating a flat in front of the hotel and it will be nicer at E150-E160/night. The only catch is they won't be able to confirm until they know for sure the opening day. So I'm looking for a similar place just in case. I like La Calcina but they're more expensive.
Do you have any recommendations for Florence and Rome? I have my little list that I've narrowed down but welcome new suggestions.
I will be asking for the forum's help when I start working through the itinerary. If I can get the fare tonight, we'll have 15 days in Italy and would love to see Cinque Terre and spend a few days in Tuscany. I have to do more reading! I've read lots already on this forum on Tuscany but I'm still a little unclear on the logistics.
Thank you Ellen!

I enjoyed my most recent stay in Rome (already 4 years ago!) which was at the Daphne Inn. We stayed at Daphne Trevi which has no elevator while Daphne Veneto does have one.
In Florence I usually stay with a friend, though years ago I stayed at Hotel Paris which is very central and the rooms were large. I got a much better rate than their website by booking through venere.com.
Glad you are having such fun planning . . . and you're welcome!

Thank you, I'll check them out! Yes, it has been fun researching but very time-consuming. I don't do much else except work, then research for the trip. It's on my mind on the time, that's why I just want to get the flights booked.

Yeaaaa, I booked our tickets on Lufthansa!!! I really like Travelocity, you can select your seats and buy travel insurance (TravelGuard) through there. We'll get into Venice at 1:25 pm, pretty awesome!
It's a little more than what we had planned to spend but I think it's worth it. It's for our 10th anniversary afterall. I'm SO excited, first trip to Europe!
Thank you everyone for helping me with this. I'll be bugging you on our trip itinerary in a few days.
