Berlin Priceline Areas for Hotel Stay
I would like to book a room in Berlin thru priceline.com and need to know which of the areas they have would be best choice and why. The areas are:
- Schloss Charlottenburg
- Tiergarten-Kufuerstendamm
- Kreuzberg
- East
I'd like to be in City Center or close to it and near major public transport and main attractions/sights.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Priceline's way of sorting the hotels is a bit odd since it follows very random patterns.
Berlin still has two central areas, one in the West around Kurfürstendamm, and one in the East around Unter den Linden/ Gendarmenmarkt. The West is a bit better for restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping, while the Eastern center has more sights and museums.
If you check the maps for Tiergarten/Kurfürstendamm and East you will notice that some flags are really close to each other, with a few flags bit out of focus.
So those two areas should give you the best probability to stay in a central location.
Nevertheless, the sights are a bit spread out in Berlin and so are the locations for pub crawling or bar hopping, so you will never have one location that covers everything. Public transportation is usually good wherever you get a hotel in Berlin.

I like to look at www.betterbidding.com and www.biddingfortravel.com to see what has been won in each area. You can see their hotel list and decide what star level to stay away from in case there is a hotel or two you are definitely not interested in getting.
Good luck!

I would like the East area best, except it is such a big zone, and people sometimes get the 4* Park Plaza Prenzlauer Berg (although it's not really in Prenzlauer Berg) which I would consider too far out.
So the main zone people bid in is the T-K zone, which is good if you want to get a 5* hotel (usually the Marriott, I think), but there are a variety of possible 4* hotels in various locations and similarly with 3*.
I would check various booking sites to see if you can get a good deal, which you often can, without Priceline before bidding and be aware of the particular drawbacks for Berlin.
