Berlin Brandenburg Gate Where To Stay, Nearby?

Hi I am Tracy from Toronto Canada. I am new to this forum. I am running the Berlin Marathon in September and I am wondering where I can stay that is affordable and nearby Brandenburg Gate?

Hi Tracy: welcome to the site! It would be helpful if you were specific in your desired price point. Otherwise, try looking at booking.com and use the map function to help with the location. Since you will be there for an "event" weekend, things might be more expensive than you'd like, but, if you find something in the center or "Mitte" you should be good, location-wise.

Enjoy your trip and good luck with the marathon!

The Adlon is certainly affordable for any aristocrat.

"nearby the B-Gate" for some of us means staying in a hotel that's actually near public transport. After all, running everywhere is only one form of transportation.

You may want to check the official website for the marathon:
https://www.bmw-berlin-marathon.com/.../hotel-offers/

The rates for participants only (which implies a certain discount, or maybe just availablity) are already more on the pricey side.
If you want proximity to the event rather than an exciting neighborhood, there are several new hotels around the central station, 2 stops by subway.

It really depends what you want to spend, hotels in Berlin can be pretty reasonable, but that's all relative. Last summer I stayed at the Hilton on Gendarmenmarkt and it was fantastic! The room was really comfortable and there's a ubahn stop right in front. I did walk to the Brandenburg Gate from there, also, but it's probably at least a half mile. I guess that should be no problem, not sure the Ubahn goes that direction. Anyway, it was dcheaper than a lot of the 4* hotels around there when I booked. I was supposed to stay at a small Sofitel that was closer to the Gate but it closed (they sold to some other hotel, I forget which) but I'm really glad as it ended up as I think the Hilton was a lot quieter, at least the type of room I requested was (NOT facing the church dome and high up).

FYI that isn't really a cheap area. The cheapest"hotel" around there is probably the ALl Suites Hostel. Secondly, the Maritim proArte. The Hilton isn't much more than it. The hotels the closest to it are pretty expensive, like the Adlon. Westin and Regent. That hostel doesn't have the greatest reviews online, but I have no personal knowledge of it.

It can get crowded in Berlin for the Marathon but there are also heaps of great hotels here. If your not too concerned about price anything directly at the gate is going to be very nice. However i would suggest staying at any of the public transport stations 1 stop away from Brandenburg tor. Friedruchstr area has some really nice bespoke hotels.

The Ibis Budget recommended as an Accor hotel (chain name) will be a budget -- no kidding -- choice. I have stayed at plenty, although not this one, and the only advice is to tune your expectations to what it offers. Very efficient, small rooms, furniture mostly built-in plywood, soap dispensers rather than bar soap, hooks for clothes and so on. Very efficiently managed, and often helpful beyond the "budget" description.

Then compare the prices at a Hilton or Kempinski.
