You've removed the review, and the police will conclude, no harm, no foul - that's assuming they get even that involved, which is unlikely.
You don't post many specifics about the experience, including the bugs.
Describing a place as 'appalling' doesn't point the way to a solution. We've stayed in over 100 different rooms, and I have found a few disappointments, including a place that was full of house flies. We suspected that someone left food in the room. In any event, we went to the manager and, finding the place full and no alternative available, asked for a can of bug spray (which they managed to procure.) And we took alcohol wipes and cleaned the place as best we could. (We are of the school that getting the job done fast, is superior to waiting for someone else to do it - which may never happen.) The point was to address the problem, make the place more satisfactory as a place to sleep - while we were there. A reduction of the bill might have been nice, but it wouldn't really have fixed things. (You can't bribe a bug - though boy, does that bring to mind an amusing image of a tiny black thing with complex eyes brandishing a gun.)
Next time ask the owner for specific solutions. Or leave.
