Liberty is a great place for beauty stuff you can't (easily) get elsewhere in london - the smaller, cooler brands and not the usual designer things. try jo malone, amazing amazing scents as well as great candles (i wear the grapefruit unisex cologne) and space nk is a good place to try too.

While it's true that Floris products are available in some U.S. stores (I believe Nieman Marcus), I believe it's a fairly limited product line and while you can also order it online, like Scarlett said, it's the thrill of the hunt that attracts some people. Floris is the one place that my mother splurges on each of her visits to London and in addition to loving their fragrances etc., they are very generous with samples - they've always gives us huge handsful of sample colognes, seems like we've taken home more in samples than purchases!

On the other end of the price scale, I love the fruit scented liquid body wash from SuperDrug (their own store brand), it smells so good it's worth it to lug those heavy bottles home.

When in London I always buy some things I can not get here in germany, but I think some are available in the US.
But maybe it is the same for you as for me; you can not get everything in every little town.

So here is my hitlist:
Jo Malone: Lime, Mandarin and Basil fragrance, really something special, available at Brook street and Harrods for example. Jo Malone has a wonderful selection of her own brand fragrances, creams, candles and more, and everything is beautiful packed.

I also like the travel sizes of every product you could possibly need at Boots from their own brand, a really great selection is available at Boots at Covent Garden. Really good is the small foot care set-everything you need after doing all this walking in London.

I also like Laura Mercier (Clementine body butter for example) but I think you can get this everywhere in the US. If not, try Harrods, Liberty or HN.

All the nice Creed fragrances are available at Fortnum&Mason, this is not a big beauty hall like Selfridges but has this Fortnum feeling, worth a visit!

Molton Brown has a very good hand cleanser and cream in a spender, coming in two fragrances and very practical to put beside the kitchen sink!

Boots products sold in America?

Kind of reminds me of when Next opened a store in boston (long since closed) which was positioned as a "high end" shop and certainly played up on its british-ness. some of us knew better.

Jo Malone; as Londonholly said, the lime basil mandarin is lovely, and also the red roses body lotion.

Ellnet is very old-fashioned, but it still sells very well. I can't believe there's a need for it in the US if it's not available; there are plenty of products like that.

Personally I didn't like Lush..my neice just thought it was wonderful..there is a store in San Francisco now. The thing I was looking for was tea lights from The Body Shop. They have a scent called Oceanus...I just love it but can't get the tea lights here anymore. I found them in London and I bought almost a whole case of them to bring home. I'm almost out so time to go back to London.
