Bayeux Hotel Recommendations?!
We will be staying in Bayeux early April for one night. Any suggestions where to stay? Ideally, we would like something charming, clean and friendly (we don't speak much French).
I've read about Hotel l'Argouges (sp?). Anyone been recently? Other suggestions are welcome.
We are travelling by train. Thanks.

Would certainly agree that with Powell. My wife and another couple stayed there for one night- took train down from Paris. It was very nice- felt almost like a private home! You walk from it and you are right in the center of the town... near Cathedral and Bayeux Tapistry and some nice restaurants.

Website for the Bellefontaine:
www.hotel-bellefontaine.com
It's only 800 meters from town, but it's in a park-like setting with rose bushes, a rushing stream, cows in a nearby pasture, etc. That's what we loved about it - you could walk into town in 7 minutes but at night be in a bucolic setting.

We stayed at the Hotel d Argouges i Sept and loved it. They don't have their own website that I know of but we used the following which had some good pix and price info. www.filfranck.com/hotel_d_argouges.htm.

Oops, you are correct, Grandmere. We stayed at the Hotel d'Argouges in Bayeux, not Chateau d'Argouges.
There is a nice description and photo on the Karen Brown website.
