Bath to Oxford -one day to fill

We have one day left to fill in on a trip to England and am looking for advice. So far we have two days in the Cotswolds, three in Bath, an unplanned day and night, followed by three days in Oxford(business). We are not interested in London this trip.AWe were planning on traveling by train/bus. Any ideas?

A few options:

- Salisbury/Winchester have reasonably easy train links to both Oxford and Bath
- An extra night in Oxford. Walk the Thames Path (http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/Thame....asp?PageId=26) to Abingdon and boat (www.salterssteamers.co.uk/)back (or vv)
- Spend a day walking between the towns on the Cotswold Line ("From the Wye to the Thames" is on sale at manned stations on the line, all local bookshops, some other shops and from www.clpg.co.uk )

Blenheim Palace in Woodstock is an interesting estate home to visit and the birthplace of Winston Churchill.

An "unplanned day" is the best sort in the Cotswolds. Two days is nothing for the Cotswolds - if you actually want to slow down and visit several of the villages, "wool" churches, gardens, pubs, and so on. if it were me I would cut Bath back to 2 days (it is a VERY small city) and do 4 days in the Cotswolds.

Don't cram every day w/ plans - the best things are often the unplanned ones that just fall in your lap -- like having a morris dancing troupe teach you a few steps, or the head gardener at Hidcote taking you behind the scenes, or meeting the Duke at Blenheim . . . . .

Woodstock is a neat little town - - Blenheim Palace, Winston Churchill's humble grave in a church yard and a great pub or three. Pretty town, too. Also, in the Cotswolds, don't miss Upper and Lower Slaughter and Snowshill. You can walk all over the place on designated trails, and they are gorgeous villages.

Actually Churchill is buried in Bladon - about 3 miles by road from the center of Woodstock. (he was born in Blenheim/Woodstock)

I love Woodstock but you'll have to go by bus.Likewise with the Slaughters.

As janisj has suggested don't try to fill all your days. You will find plenty to do after you get there.

Also think limiting Bath to two days will give you ample time to see /experience most if not all that Bath offers.
