Basketball in Bucharest

Hey guys,

I am going to Bucharest tonight and I am looking for a place where I could play basketball, either pick up or full on games if I can.

I'm thinking of staying in here and Constanta for a couple of weeks.

Anybody have any clue where I could play?

Thanks!

There is Euro League basketball in Bucharesht, and possibly a few other large cities...not sure. In my Romanian travlels over the past 30 years, I've encountered occasional pick up games in Iasi (Yash), Brashov, and Constantsa (proper pronunciations). In general, Romanians are big and very tall...there's an old Billy Crystal flick about the big Romanian who made it into the NBA...
Georgiu Muresan..supposedly 7'2"....I mention him on one of my books of historical fiction...I noticed several little towns with home made basketball "courts"....

Bao.....Sofia and Thessaloniki are rather tame than playing in a rock strewn court in the Stone Forest of Yunnan..not very far from Kunming: (scroll down to #10.

Tower: That picture is pretty awesome!

Do you remember where in Constanta did you play? I was thinking of going there for next weekend.

Dukey1: I'm down to watch NBA playoffs somewhere that plays it.

Bao: Constant(s)a (proper pronunciation!)there were courts near the town casino area on the Black Sea coast. Don't recall exact location, after all it was in 1983! I describe a random pickup game between two talented Romanian kids(one with a deadly Kareem hook!) and an American high school player and his dad, an aging former high school player from California (all in one of my past historical novels.. 2003). They're in Romania trying to find genealogical informaton on their father/grandfathers' exodus on foot from Romania in 1904.

Bao...start at Pic # 65-72 for some views of modern Constantsa on the Black Sea. Don't have any basketball pics, though.

By the way, Bao..dad and son lost the pickup game 38-12.....ugh!
Remember, they are just characters in the novel...only in there because I placed them there! The fun and power of writing f-i-c-t-i-o-n. Buffalo Bill Cody is in the story, too. It's a long story, 596 pages...see Amazon.
