Base2stay London

Has anyone had experience staying at this hotel in London? The Aster House is booked for the dates that we want. The Firmdale hotels, which I was also interested in, are really expensive. I was interested in South Kensington, but at this point I'm open to other suggestions.

Hi Jag

I cannot help you with Base2Stay at the moment but we are booked in for June for 6 nights. And I have looked around for aprtment type accommodation at a decent price and this seems to be very ggod. They have great reviews see Tripadvisor.

We are Aussies and our dollar is shocking against the pound.

Good luck

Deb

How did you find Base2Stay? I am looking for an apartment-hotel for March and came across this one on-line. Any advice?

Jag, look at the Rembrandt - depending when you want to go, they have decent prices including VAT and breakfast. That's my go-to hotel - right across from the V&A and about 8 blocks along the road from horrible Harrod's and close to S. Ken tube. Great location and a nice hotel at the price, by London standards.
I'm going in 3 weeks and was set to stay there again but got a 5* in Mayfair on priceline (sort of by accident )
The other place i was thinking of trying is the Ashburn Hotel. It's also on the Piccadilly line but at Gloucester Rd stop. It has GREAT reviews on trip advisor and pretty good prices too.

I stayed at base2stay last June for a week, and quite liked it. I suffered a cold, and slept in several mornings, so the kitchenette was very useful. I could make myself a meal when I chose to. The room was very clean, and I enjoyed using the free internet on the telly, once I figured out how to do it.

The hotel is very close to a new, large Sainsbury's, which has all your grocery needs, and there's several restaurants in the neighborhood. The Earl's Court tube stop is just a block away, has a ramp and a lift for luggage, and is on the Picadilly line for Heathrow.

I stayed in the smallest single available, and it was snug, but doable. I'd stay there again. (Check my review on Trip Advisor for more details.)

We always used to stay at Aster House and it remains one of my favorites. Just can't afford it anymore. Have you tried No.16 across the street from AH? Also you might look at Millennium Baileys, just a few blocks away. Sydney House Hotel is also nearby and similar in feel to Aster House.

We ended up staying at the ParkCity in South Kensington. It was very nice and highly rated on Trip Advisor.
