Does this museum require advanced reservations for Sept. 18?

I didn't have to make a reservation for this museum. I walked right in and it wasn't busy at all. This was in mid-September. Make sure you go, it is fabulous! I think most people don't know about it...

I was there in July (last year) and it was almost empty, with absolutely no line. So I would doubt it.

In the past, reservations were never required, and I think I've read here that they're still not. It's my favorite or one of my favorite museums in Florence.

Yep, relatively empty and a MUST.

I agree--it's a must-see. It's a treat because it's NOT busy (or at least it wasn't when I visited) and you can really look at things. Watch for Donatello's David!

And Michelangelo's Bacchus and Mercury, etc, etc. My favorite museum in Florence. No you don't need reservations because most people and tours don't know about it. If you stand in front of the Bargello facing Via Proconsolo, just to the left on the other side of the street is "Bar Badia" (not the Badia church across the street which is also interesting). But Bar Badia has wonderful "fast food". Fresh and delicious.

Ann1, it's almost my favorite museum in Florence also, but the Accademia has a slight edge just because of "David." In addition the Bargello's Bacchus, I love the della Robbia terracottas.

Elaine: Yes, I guess it's a neck and neck with David. Another museum I love and is little known is the Museo dello Opera behind the Duomo. It has a Michelangelo Pieta and the original Baptistry doors. Again a museum that tours don't go to.

Just a note so you don't think I'm crazy.....Michelangelo has a few Pietas. One being in the Vatican and one in Florence. My memory fails me about anymore.

The Pieta at the Duomo Museum, Michelangelo's craggy 'old'age' version, is a really interesting contrast, to me, to the youthful, beatific version at St Peters's

Hi Elaine: Without going to my reference books, isn't there another Pieta in Milan or somewhere? For some reason I thought there were three.
