Barcelona + Venice Honeymoon in June
OK! After super procrastinating, I finally gave up my kidney to pay for the Costco Barcelona + Venice honeymoon in June. 7 nights total = 3 nights in Barcelona + 4 nights in Venice. The only thing I know I want to do is go on a Chianti wine tour when I'm in Venice. Other than that, any good site destination and restaurant must-go-to locations are all wide open. Any and all feedback is welcomed!

You will find it very difficult to arrange for a tour of the Chianti if you are staying Venice. You will first need to travel 2 hours by train to Florence. Most group tours of the Chianti leave Florence early in the morning, meaning you would need to leave Venice by 6am to meet-up with the group. You can search for ones that leave later, but you should start searching now.
You can also arrange to have a private driver meet you at the Florence train station and take you on a private tour. That is much more expensive, however.
Whatever you paid for the Costco tour, it will be money wasted if you don't buy good guidebooks for Barcelona and Venice.

Italy is a big country and Chianti really isnt close to Venice. Do you have a tour in mind? You may find that very difficult to set up for a reasonable price.
First thing to do is get good guide books on both locations so you can decide what YOU want to see. I then do searches here for restaurants etc.

I didn't know that Costco did travel. Is this the package you booked:
http://www.costcotravel.com/Vacation...BCNVCE20102601
Because if so, that is ridiculously expensive. I thought at first it must include your flights to/from Europe, but no (have you booked those yet?) It also doesn't include your transport between Barcelona and Venice (have you booked that? If not check skyscanner.net, whichbudget.com and the ferry from Barcelona to Genoa plus train to Venice).
Basically, you are paying $1600 per person for six nights in a hotel plus transfers to/from the airport. That's $533/night for a double room! Sure, you can pay more than that for Venice (although even the Danieli is only $100 or so more for its cheapest room in June) but you can pay a whole lot less - see booking.com. Can you cancel this and DIY? Oh, and have you bought guidebooks yet? If not, try here: http://travelstore.ricksteves.com/ca...g&parent_id=10

@stevewith--thanks, i will start checking for a group tour now.
@adrienne--yes, i posted this thread first, but no one responded.
@thursdaysd--i tried DIY and your sites and the total comes out to only a few hundred dollars yes for a hotel that was not as nice nor did they.

Costco says their Venice hotel is the Papadopoli. I wouldn't choose to stay there because it is over by the train station and the cruise port, but if you really want to stay there you can book directly with the hotel for a random three nights in June for ONE THIRD LESS than you are paying Costco.
Not sure which hotels you looked at on booking.com, but I saw at least a couple with good reviews for considerably less than you are paying. Unfortunately you are booking too late for the best deals.
