Barcelona restaurants with kids

Hi !
We Will be in Barcelona in july for 5 Nights. We travel with our kids (5 and 9). We have some questions about restaurants.
1)Are kids well accepted ?

2) They are used to eat at Noon and 18:30.....and sleeps around 20:30. Not Barcelona schedule at all ! Any tips about that ?

3) We would like to eat tapas (Tapeo seems great).

4) We Will stay in an appartement near Muntaner and Carrer de Londres.

5)Any restaurants recommandations ?

Thanks

There are only a handfull of places open at noon, and almost no restaurant will be open before 20h00. For dining recommendations, check out Maribel's Guide to Barcelona (www.maribelsguides.com/mg_barcelonadining.pdf)

I don't know where you're from, but it will still be bright and sunny at 20h30, with nearly 15 hours of daylight in mid-July.

Thanks !

Image from Montreal. Sun is not enough to keep them awake !

Maybe we could have a good breakfast at the appartement, have big lunch around 14:00 and have light meal/snack in the evening.

I don't know what that remark means about only a handful of places will be open at noon, lots of places serve lunch.

I don't know what it's like right around your location, but where I stay closer to placa Catalunya, you wouldn't have a problem because there are tons of open-air casual cafes on rambla de Catalunya that serve tapas as well as other things. I'm sure they are open earlier than 8 pm, could be open most of the day, I forget. But you could definitely go there to eat at 6 pm. this is NOT the famous Ramblas you hear about which is farther south (? towards the port anyway) of there and below placa Catalunya. There are casual places on it, also, but that is a very different atmosphere and they are more expensive. Now the casual open-air restaurants/cafes I'm talking about are not going to be haute cuisine, but it's a good place for kids and to eat early and not spend much and enjoy the outdoors.

I have no idea if they have this type of avenue up near where you are staying with all these restaurants on it in the center median park strip, but I don't think so.

There is an okay "chain" (local mini-chain) restaurant Trobador about a block away that opens at 5 pm, also. I ate there once and liked it. Also, it was one of the few restaurants in Barcelona that would allow me to order tap water to drink (really, I had restaurants refuse to serve it to me in Barcelona) rather than expensive bottle dwater which I didn't want, and don't approve of for ecological reasons when a city has safe drinking water.

For example, this one is right near your apt. and looks good for you, it opens at 6 pm for dinner.

In fact, you can probably use that website to find ones that are open early.

I think your real problem will be that if your kids are used to being in bed by 8 pm and you want to go out, what will you do ? Perhaps you can keep them up later.

Sure, there are a lot of fast food joints, bars and taverns open before noon, but very few restaurants that require reservations will open their doors for lunch before 12h30.

Off Ramblas you'll find Bar Lobo (Tragaluza Group), which opens at 09h00. Luzia, next door, opens from breakfast at 08h30. Ciutat Comtal, west of Plaça Catalunya, opens daily at 08h00, but nearby Bar Bas doesn't open for lunch until 12h30.

Cervecería Catalana, Mallorca, 236, offers continuous dining on tapas and small plates and opens at 09h00 for breakfast, but you may have to wait around awhile if you don't arrive early for lunch. It's very popular.\

Paco Meraigo isn't very far from where you're staying, and great for Sunday night casual dining. It opens at 13h00 for lunch and 20h00 for dinner, but you'll need reservations. Restaurant Tamara is also close by but doesn't open for lunch until 13h30. It's the same with El Marc del Blau.

But you're lucky in that you're staying very close to Bar El Velórormo, which belongs to Moritz, and is open from 06h00 to 0300 daily. We stopped in for a beer not long after the space was restored and turned into a casual dining place, popular with the after work crowd.
