I really liked the NH Calderon, excellent location for sites, restaurants, and transportation, on a street with lots of outdoor cafes, just above placa Catalunya. Very comfortable rooms, they even had two closets (his and hers, I guess). I got a room high up with a window view over the street in front. Reasonable rates for that level of hotel.

If you want to be in the heart of everything and next door to both El Born and Placa Catalunya - and still want peace and quiet - you should take a look at Hotel Neri. Part a 12th century palace and part a 18th century mansion house. Our best hotel experience ever in some 30 years of intensive traveling in Spain. http://www.hotelneri.com/en/

Hii!
I highly recommend Hotel Majestic! Classic, great location and rooftop. But if you a hotel in the center of the city, I recommend Hotel Midmost: new, beautiful and with a great service.
