Barcelona Experts, Please Help: AC Barcelona or Hotel Jazz?

Okay, so I tried to post this before, but it didn't work, so if this shows up twice, forgive me!

I currently have rooms booked for my sister and I at the AC Barcelona in May for one night before a cruise.

Up until today, this was one of the only hotels I could find that was both in our price range and would let me book for just one night. It gets good reviews on TripAdvisor, and also another Fodors poster liked it a lot. It's main problem is location.

I just found two rooms available at the Hotel Jazz on Expedia. This hotel seems to be in a much more central location. Reviews on TripAdvisor are mostly good, a few complaints about noise.

Which hotel would you choose?

Thanks,
Johanna

looking at the map and photos of this new hotel, it is much better situated than the AC hotel, although the AC hotel is very contemporary , ZEN, sleek and elegant.

I would defintely feel very comfortable with this JAZZ hotel and its location, although it is quite busy there. it is in a very convenient area.

check www.gtahotels.com for rates including tax and breakfast usually.

This is not what you're asking but I'm just curious about your comment about the AC Barcelona being the only hotel that would let you book for one night??? I never had that happen to me. Coincidentally, I just booked the Hotel Colon in Barcelona for i night and it was no problem.

Are you booking directly with the hotel?

Jazz has a great location, but be sure to ask for either a top floor room or one away from the street. It is a busy area and though the noise there does not bother me (that is around the corner from my apartment), it might you if you are not accustomed.

Thank you lincasanova and laclaire for your replies. It looks like we will keep our reservation at the AC after all.

Cruiseluv, Hotel Colon had nothing available for our dates.
There were actually several hotels that told me they had a two night minimum on weekends.

be sure to ask at the AC bout the mini bar, or snack buffet. they usualy have one or the other or both FREE. perhaps not on weekends.. but don't forget to ask. it is really a great deal.
mid morning snacks, afternoon teas..

they usually have free water and bowls of apples at least on every floor.

if you have breakfast included , the one time i stayed with breakfast.. it had a nice variety, too.

my only observation is the bathroom design is so modern with so much glass, that i find it cold.. not cozy.

one of my favorite chains, though.
