Barcelona and Sitges beach hotels

Hi there –I’m looking for a beach front hotel for June this year. The idea is to walk out the front door onto the sand. Does anyone know of any hotels a taxi ride away from Barcelona airport that fit the bill please? All I can find is the expensive Arts hotel - there are others in Barcelona, surely? Also found Sitges - does anyone know of a hotel here directly on the beach? Many thanks.

We have stayed in Blanes....north of sitges and Barcelona by a short train ride and the way that towns seem to set up does not lend itself to beach front hotels. Follow the train linenorth of BArcelona andlook at an area where the tracks are further inland.....I love the train because it is a beach front ride! Also try a couple of vacation rental websites you -may get a nice apt that is beach front. We rent an aprtmentin Blanes but is in the"old town" and just off the water. In Blanes the boardwalk prevents beachfront rooms....but keep looking.....it has got to be there!

The beachfront hotels in central Sitges are actually across the street from the beach, so you have to cross a narrow road to get to the sand. Does that count? Also there's a big Sol Melia property in Sitges which might be on the water, but maybe a rockier part of the beach, around a KM or so from the town center. Try the Santa Maria Hotel in the center for a pleasant, affordable family run place, with a popular restaurant.

Thank you both for your suggestions, and sorry for the delay in replying. We had a city break in Barcelona in the February ½ term, and, John, I followed up your comments on Sitges and took a day trip there. Very nice indeed. But we are having trouble finding a sea front hotel room that can take the 4 of us. Only the Calipolis and San Sebastian can provide and they are too dear. (The Santa Maria isn’t replying).
Barbara, thanks for suggesting Blanes. It looks a bit of a trek for the family though...so I am now thinking of Castelldefels, which is even closer to the airport than Sitges. But even here the sea view 4 bed room is elusive.
I keep on looking...thanks again.
We went to sunny Spain for the ½ term week – it was a bit cooler than normal –and stayed in the Estela hotel in Sitges near the marina. It is wonderful, but expensive. The pool is deep, and in a sunny position. The beach over the road is sandy and sheltered from the wind, and you can hire beds and umbrellas there. The only downside was the noise of the piped music whenever we opened our balcony doors.

My daughter and I are in Sitges right now and it is beautiful. We have been taking the train into Barcelona. The hotel group we are staying is grup carbonell mellado tel number 93 811 02 67 or fax 93 894 51 88. We got a great rate that includes a breakfast and the room is fine. Enjoy
