Baltic Sea Cruise
We are considering going on a cruise ship thru the Baltic Sea going to St. Petersburg, Lativa, and a few other countries. Normally we tour on our own. We would like a lovely cruise ship for sleeping only. We want to see lots of the countries. The cruise ships I've looked at out of Russia don't look too special. Any good suggestions? We are at a loss. What tour company should we use. Thanks much. Betty

Our one and only cruise was a Baltic Sea cruise on the Marco Polo with the Orient Lines. My main objective was to see the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, and we also stopped in the main cities of the Baltic countries. We were satisfied with the cruise and the experience, but also realized we don't care for cruising.
The Marco Polo is small and those on it are mainly a quiet, mature crowd. The food was very good as well as the service. It was also a very good value at the time, about three years ago. Let me know what you think!

There are lots of Baltic cruises these days, usually during the Summer months, with many being run by the usually-North-American-based companies such as celebrity, RCCL, Princess, SilverSea, Carnival, etc.
All kinds of prices and itineraries.

Our family of four, including two teenagers, took a Baltic cruise last summer. We've traveled a lot and we all agree it was one of the best vacations ever! We were on Holland America - started in Copenhagen, then Tallin, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Berlin (excursion), Visby, Arhus and back to Copenhagen. The weather was fabulous (June), and we visited places we thought we'd never see. St. Petersburg is magnificent. And the smaller towns were wonderful. We had the time of our lives - go for it!
