Interesting. Has anyone else read Stonehenge by Bernard Cornwall?

Imagine a house that has only 16 square feet! Puts all the complaints about room size into perspective .

What, no signs of knock-off dolmens ("Fell off the back of the lorry, guv&quot?

16 ft square isn't 16 sq ft: it's 256 sq ft.

Still pokey, but more than enough room to eat, sleep and swing a small cat.

Thanks for the link, SJ.

>People seem to have occupied the sites seasonally,...
>"It is the richest - by that I mean the filthiest - site of this period known in Britain,"

I've been to hotels like that.

"The archaeologists found 4,600-year-old rubbish covering the floors of the houses."

Obviously litterbugs or else there wasn't any maid service.

I saw this on CNN this morning. To anyone interested in this stuff, it's a significant find.
PS Isn't Cornwall supposed to have a new book coming out?

This was on the local TV news last night and in this morning's paper. I felt so smug that I already knew it.

Can someone please explain:

How is it that this detritus has managed to survive the millenia? There's been no cataclysmic event i.e. Pompei, so why hasn't everything turned to dust? Clay strata?

>How is it that this detritus has managed to survive the millenia? <

Because it's in the UK.

In Germany, Holland or Switzerland it would have been cleaned up long ago.
