Bagno Vignoni - natural hot springs

I will be in Tuscany in late June and am interested in going to the hot springs in Bagno Vignoni. The most recent post I found on Fodor's was 2002 and it mentioned that the springs were small and one spa had closed. Can anyone tell me the status of the spring? Or give a suggestion of one nearby. We are staying in the San Casciano Valley and want to stay within a 1.5 hour radius.

I think Hotel Poste has been renamed but lots of hotels look live http://www.booking.com/searchresults...ity=1;src=city

The spring still going

If you walk "off the cliff" (you'll see what I mean if you go there), you can descend to a small natural pool where you can bathe with the local kids for nothing. The town water tank is still off limits

That appears to be close to Florence. Perhaps you would be better off going somewhere closer to Florence like Montecatini Terme.

Sorry, I see more than one San Casciano. Not sure which one you are staying without a link to it.

I was asking about Bagno Vignoni as we will be visiting Montalcino and I was considering driving to BV, which is less than a half hour away from there. I like the idea of BV as you can walk to the springs outside and go in the water on your own.

Per Kybourbon's suggestion, I looked up Montecatini Terme and it may be a possibility. Can anyone recommend a spa there?

Yes, you are in the one close to Florence. I don't think you would reach Bagno Vignoni in 1.5 hours from there. Montecatini Terme would be closer.

I'm not sure where you are getting your driving estimates, but you are not within an hour of either Bagno Vignoni or Montalcino.

Where are you going either before or after Montefiridolfi? Perhaps you could visit a terme along the way rather than make a long day trip...

Here's a list of thermal baths in Tuscany.

Kybourbon, Ekscrunchy, and Jean - thank you for your help. I looked at the sites you sent me, and I am leaning toward Monsummano Terme. Only 52 days and counting until we leave for Italy.
