Back From Italy With Serious Pasta Addiction!

Tracy and I (along with traveling cohorts Kim and Mary) have finally returned from three incredible weeks in Italy. As I work at sorting through thousands of photos and start writing about the trip, I realized I was going through severe pasta withdrawal. Fortunately, Tracy remembered where our kitchen was located and made me our favorite go-to pasta dish. Bucatini Aglio e Olio is a simple dish to make (so easy that even I have made it on a few occasions). As we found out again on our recent travels, sometimes it is the simplest of dishes that satisfy the most. Now back to writing (by the way, the photo below is of my new favorite place on earth … La Morra in Piemente, where we had perhaps our best lodging ever ... votes are being compiled. I hope the corgis like Barolo and Barbera).

Thanks for all your help in planning this great trip. I cannot get Piemente out of my head!

Looking forward tor your trip report.

I love that recipe from Ina Gartens cookbook. It's been awhile since I made it and I think I used regular spaghetti. But we have a local fresh made pasta store that has the tube pasta which I will get for next time. Love all pasta!!

I thought you would like that part of the Piemonte. For us it was just one adventure after another - can't wait to hear about all of yours.

We loved the Piemonte too. Right now we are in Sicily and just said Sicily, Puglia and Piemonte are our favorites especially for the food and wine. Looking forward to your trip report, Tom.

You may already know this link on You Tube but it is certainly worthwhile sharing - https://www.youtube.com/user/pastagrannies/videos

Also a famous English cook who loves Italy - Jamie Oliver. His latest show - Jamie Oliver cooks Italy starts in the south and ends up in Piedmont. Also can be found on You Tube.

Credit for photo goes to Tracy. Definitely will check out Jamie Oliver. I had a white truffle pasta in La Morra that could be the best pasta dish ever! John, I read your report and knew Piemente would be great ... and it exceeded my high expectations. I really need to liver Italy so I can see all these places. If anyone in Italy wants to adopt us (including the corgis and cats) ...

Maitaitom, have been absent from Fodor's for a few weeks and happy to now look forward to your upcoming report; just fearful that all the delicioso meals will have us constantly yearning for pasta!

Great. Pasta photos. That's really going to help keep off the 10 pounds I lost in Spain.

Looking forward to your trip report, Tom. I think we were in Piedmont the same time you were and only just now coming down from the food & wine high. Still dreaming about the 40-egg yolk plin with sage-butter sauce. I'm wondering if we may have crossed paths at some point on our trip, since we managed to do that at Osteria La Porta in Monticchiello oh so many years ago.

hazel, TR starts tomorrow. We have our first four days of photos organized ... I think. We were in La Morra October 2 through October 6. Yes, some of the best pasta dishes ever, including the one you mentioned. Were you in La Morra??
