B&Bs in Provence?
Does anyone have experience staying at Mas des Carassins in St Remy? Is it easy by car to visit the surrounding towns? (Avignon, Arles, Pont du Gard, etc.) Or, any other favorites? I am booking in during late May. Merci

We stayed at Mas des Carassins last March and are booked there for this March. The only trouble we had was finding it the first time. As you come off of the ring road in St Remy towards Les Baux make a right at the end of the cemetary. The signs in and around St Remy are well marked and easy to navigate once you understand the ring road around the village.

You'll be on the edge of St Remy and not to worry about traffic unless you come into town for market day. We always spend a day there for our special reasons and somehow are lucky to find a parking space which can be very difficult.

EPL, my friend and I are also staying at the Mas des Carassins in May (5/21 - 5/25). I picked that place based on the many positive threads I've read on Fodors (you can do a search) and on tripadvisor.com. From what I've read, the mas is about a 10 minute walk in to town (we'll also have a rental car). I believe its about 30 minutes south of Avignon so it makes a great base. Many Fodorites recommended it. Have fun and maybe I'll see you there!

Yes, EPL we loved the Mas. We just took a chance from photos we saw on the Web. I have no idea how people travel before the Web.
We had no problems with driving anywhere we went around there. Well, not exactly no problems but they were the sort of the driver (him) not listening to the navigator (me) and not having a map for Aix on market day (and almost getting a ticket for driving right into the closed-to-traffic part of the market which we then never got to see).
