www.kenmare.com has lists of accommodations. Can't make any recommendations, but you may see something that catches your eye.

up in to the left where it says search type in Lodging Kenmare or Kenmare Lodging and you'll get many posts on the subject. I just did and they came right up. Save you some time. I stayed at The Lodge and was very comfortable.

I can personally recommend the Waters Edge B&B in Kenmare. It's on a forest hillside a mile south of town overlooking the estuary. Cash only but very reasonably priced. The e-mail address is [email protected].

FWIW, I just pulled up my report on B&Bs. It's entitled "Our B&B experiences in the west of Ireland" or something similar. Didn't stay in Kenmare but we did stay in Galway.

For Kenmare, check on Shelburne Lodge and Sallyport House. We stayed at and enjoyed Shelburne Lodge. It is walking distance to good restaurants and pubs in town. Sallyport is very nice but not quite as close to town. Have a good trip.

Hey Tim. Water's Edge looks good. I'm not sure how I missed it. I have this thing about staying places with a view of the water. I guess living in a very arid climate does that to me. I'll check them out as I am going through there in February.

We liked Willow Lodge B&B in Kenmare([email protected] was well located and a very nice place. In Galway we liked Petra House(www.galway.net/pages/petra-house)>It is a short walk from the downtown and in the same block are many other B&Bs.Very friendly helpful B&B hosts at both places.

Sallyport has views of the Kenmare River, the mountains and an apple orchard. Every time you look out the window it looks like a landscape painting! There is a shortcut into town on a private walking path that connects up to Reenagross Park and cuts through the Park Hotel's garden. It is around 10 minutes walk. If you can afford it Sallyport never disappoints.

The Lodge is quite elegant and very good. They have no views though. Ten minute walk to town.

Abbey Court is nice and some rooms have views. Ten minute walk to town.

Driftwood is lovely and the hosts are fantastic. No views. Ten minute walk to town.

The last three places are near each other.
