If you want to stay in the center of Galway, I would not hesitate to recommend The Grange B&B, www.thegrangegalway.com.
We rented a room from them in May and I would stay there again in a minute. It was two short blocks to the pedestrian center of Shop Street.
Our room was clean with a nice bathroom and t.v. with more stations then I have ever seen in Europe.
The room was very nice sized. They do not have parking, but directed my husband to a parking lot (secured) about a 10 minute walk away that was very reasonable(4 Euro for each 24 hrs.) The room was 50 E cash for the double. Except for Sunday, they provide a delicious breakfast in the adjoining restaurant.
We did not care to stay outside the city in Salthill or on College road. We wanted to be right in Galway proper. This was perfect. We walked everywhere easily. It is less then a five minute walk to Eyre Square.
I must tell you that they don't pay a lot of attention to their email. I would send them one ( I did) and after a few days I would call (I did).
They are very nice people to deal with.

We also stayed in Kenmare proper. We liked it as we could go to the downtown pubs and restaurants walking.
We rented a two room (and bath) apartment. If you would like more info email me: [email protected]
We liked this town very much and would stay there again.

In May, I stayed at Ardawn House in Galway, and Rose Cottage Guesthouse in Ennis. Very happy with both. Neither was in the town center, but I would say within easy walking distance. We didn't even rent a car.

Hi gbs,
If you'd like to stay in Kenmare Town, stay at Virginia's right in the middle of town. They have a lovely little restaurant there too. Contact is [email protected]. Lovely clean rooms & fabulous breakfast.. I would also recommend the Grange in Galway - stayed there for 2 nights..
Katy.

Does anyone know anything about Marless House in Galway? How far to town? Know anything about Davitt's in Kenmare? We want something in town in Galway, Ennis and Kenmare. Thanks for previous input,
the Grange is not available for times we need, but sounded perfect. Ardawn was a little too pricey. Thanks for more input!

Marless House is in Salthill, so it's a bit of a hike into Galway. Davitt's in Kenmare is right in the center of town. I haven't stayed there, but it looks attractive from the outside.
Ennis just doesn't seem to have a lot of B&Bs that are in the town center, but I did notice one when I was there in July. It's called Rockfield and you can find it on the www.familyhomes.ie site. We just drove past it, so I know nothing about it other than the fact that it's within very easy walking distance of the town center. (Probably less than a 5 minute walk.)

If Ardawn is too pricey, we stayed at Lawndale B&B in 2001. It's not brand new, but it was clean, comfortable, and the breakfast was good. Margaret Walsh was very nice. We stayed in a front room with a lovely view of the bay. The walk to town was about 15 minutes by either the busy streets or the route I preferred along the seaside. Try this map - you can zoom in and get an idea of the layout. Lawndale is at 5 Beach Court in Lower Salthill. www.softguides.com/ireland/maps/galwaycity.html
And - Rose Cottage Guesthouse in Ennis is only a 5 minute walk from the main street. Very convenient.

gbs. Another suggestion would be St Martin's B&B (091568286). This was my first choice but they were remodeling and could not tell me that it would be finished for May. I called them in March.
While not as central as the Grange, it looked to be fairly close to town and was very reasonable and well thought of.
You can see some reviews on Trip Advisor.
I think you must call them. I do not believe they have a website.

From what I've read about St Martin's, it sounds like a really great B&B. Be aware, though, that some of the websites that mentioned St Martin's also said that credit cards are not accepted there.
Best to call them, as Sher suggested.

We've stayed at Four Seasons B&B in Galway and would recommend it. It's on College Rd., about a 5 minute walk from Eyre Square.

As of yet, I can't find a website for St Martins B&B, however, I did find a pic of it that some person posted after their trip. They seemed to like St Martins as well!

t. Martin's is in Galway. I have only read positive things about it.
They do not have a website, you must call them. They were friendly on the phone and helpful suggesting another B&B on College Rd.
I just wanted to stay as close to town as possible. And I really didn't want to spend over 100 Euro a night which is what the hotels were.
When they were not sure if the remodel was going to be completed by the time we needed a room, she gave me the name and number of another B&B. If they are full, ask her and I am sure she will give you some names. I called them twice.
