Hi bornin'

have you found the www.gites-de-france.fr web-site yet?

B&Bs as well as self-catering cottages.

also the www.logis-de-france.fr site may help - family owned and run hotels many of which may be within your budget.

In Amboise we stayed at the hotel Blason which has a family room [two interconnecting rooms sharing a bathroom] and in Saumur we stayed at the hotel Londres, ehere we stayed ina three-bedded room. both shoudl be within your budget.

regards, ann

Hi B,

Check out the Bonnet in Beynac at http://tinyurl.com/2dwwh5

We liked it when we were there.

However, it has since lost its listing with www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/index.htm

In Sarlat we stayed at Villa des Consuls. Prices will be at the very top of your budget--and worth it. See reports (including mine) on tripadvisor.

villadesconsuls.com

Where exactly in Provence?

These are all great suggestions and will check to see if they are available for our dates-- not really caring where exactly we stay in each of these areas as we will have a car and be making day trips each day.Just want to not spend much as we won't be in the B and B much each day-- How about any suggestions for Mont St Michel???--the 2 I was looking at just contacted me that they are booked for our dates

I stayed at the Hostellerie de Meysset, which is located about 2 miles north of Sarlat http://www.hotels-sarlat-perigord.co...requestedPdt=5. As I recall, it was a lovely place, overlooking the Vezere valley. There is an indoor dining room, but in nice weather, there are outdoor tables. Very good food and quiet, well appointed rooms..
