Austrian train/bus pass?
We'll be spending 10 nights in Austria this December. The two weeks prior we'll be in Switzerland (we're familiar with trains and buses there and will be purchasing a Half Fare Card).
We're completely unfamiliar with Austrian trains and buses - we'll arrive into Seefeld for a five night stay, move on to St Gilgen for another five nights and then move on to Munich for two nights before departure. We plan to make day trips and/or explore the surrounding area from both Austrian bases.
Does Austria offer any type of train/bus pass or just point-to-point tickets? Are saver passes available if booked in advance?
Any help appreciated, I've just started to sort out this part of our trip.

Well there is an Austrian Railpass sold to foreigners (a Eurailpass just for Austrian trains not buses) but I can't see how any railpass would benefit you as you are not traveling on long-distance trains very much - if so go to Willkommen - low-cost competitor to Austrian Railways (actually a subsidiary of them I believe). buses St Gilgen to Salzburg are dirt cheap and then you get to use the Bavaria Pass which gives unlimited travel for a whole day in Bavaria on regional trains (not faster trains but on that route not much slower - www.bahn.com/en is the site of German Railways - you buy the Bavarian Pass at Salzburg station's German section I believe but anyway just buy it that day - covers both of you or more for about 35 euros/day - can use in Munich on public transports too. Not sure is Austrian Railways have their own pass but for info on the Austrian Eurailpass which could be good if taking longish day trips but unlikely but: www.ricksteves.com and BETS-European Rail Experts.

I'm familiar with the Bayern ticket, which we'll probably use the day we go to Munich, just not familiar with Austrian transport in general.
I suspect that point-to-point will suffice, just wondering if I was missing something.

ÖBB doesn't really have great ticket options for limited regional travel a la the Bayern Card. There are regional "cards" that will have varying offers, including local transportation; some cards will be provided by most hotels, some are available online. We've used the Olympiaregion Seefeld and the Ötztal Premium Card; both were provided by our hotels. Both cards included the gondolas and the latter included the local bus that runs up and down the valley.
This link is still showing the summer cards, but it will give you an idea of what's available in Tirol.

Similarly, one for the Salzkammergut: https://www.salzkammergut.at/en/list...rgut-card.html
