Austrian Ice Caves...which one?

Hi Everyone,
We (myself, DH, DS and fiance) would like to visit the ice caves in Austria in June 2012. There are the Dachstein caves near Hallstatt and the Eisriesenwelt cave near Werfen. If anyone has been to either or both can I please have your observations/opinions.

I know that more walking is involved to get to the Eisriesenwelt cave. That's fine. It also appears larger, from the website. Any advice is appreciated. Should we see just one or are both worthy of a visit.

Thank you,
Michele

“Entrische Kirche” in Dorfgastein, the tour will take about 6 hours. You'll get safety equipment, torch, helmet, carabiner. It's rather easy. No mountaineering experience needed.

I'll be looking for your trip report, I wanted to go to Eisriesenwelt last Oct but it closed early due to snow.

Lucky you, have fun.

I have been twice to Eisriesenwelt and really enjoyed it. Dress warmly (the first time I didn't!)

bigtyke,
On the Eisriesenwelt website one of the reviews said that the cave was not well lit and you couldn't see the ice very well. Is that what you think? Are tennis shoes adequate for the cave?
Thank you for your help

I probably wore tennis shoes - certainly not hiking boots. I don't remember not being able to see well.
