Austria - Here we come!
Hi All
Friday (19th)is the day. Leave DFW for 8 days in Austria. Actually its DFW to Zurich, Lucerne, Bregenz, Garmisch, Salzburg, and Vienna. Total time 8 days. All travel by train, but no Eurail Pass. Salzburg and Vienna = hotel reservations - but other than those, no hotels either. We are hoping for snow, Xmas markets, mountains, cable cars, and incredible scenery. Four of us going.
Any last minute Advice -- please don't hesitate. I may never return.

Shrink.....Sounds like you might not have any "spare" time. But on several trips to Salzburg I have been able to enjoy a day trip to Bad Gastein,at the apex of the Gastein Valley.A thermal wonderland as well as an international ski destination.Your post made me think of it and the great times I have had there.Bon Voyage, Buen Viaje!

You may not be thee long enough to go to any christmas markets. I think that they will start a day or two after you leave. But when you are Salzburg, make sure you try bosna, it is a special sausage sandwich to the area. You can get them on the main street at a couple of little fast food boths. Try to get to the Austiner Brauhaus, a great local beer hall, worth a visit.
Have a good time.
