August Restaurants Open In Rome
I know Fodorites are very knowledgeable so your helped will be well received. We are ending a cruise in Rome on August 25, 2018. I am looking for restaurants that are open in August. We are staying at Albergo del Senato so relatively close would be appreciated. We will be in Travestere so a restaurant there is good. Thanking you in advance.

Not many restaurants are closed in August. Some might be closed for a week, but it would be exceedingly rare for a restaurant to be closed for the entire month, especially in the area surrounding the Pantheon, or in Trastevere. Restaurants in these areas depend largely on the tourist trade, and closing for the month of August makes no sense. This kind of thing used to happen years ago, but not any more. Now restauranteurs take their holidays in the Seychelles, in January. I've often been to Rome in August, and have never had a problem finding a place to eat.
I attended a conference in Rome last year, and our favorite restaurant was the Locanda del Pellegrino, on Via del Pellegrino (a lovely little street, by the way). It's about a ten-minute walk from your hotel. In Trastevere, I like da Gildo. However, there are many, many restaurants, to suit all tastes and budgets. The ones I mention are dependable, serve traditional dishes, and are not overly expensive.
