Audience with the Pope

My wife heard that there was some way to have our marriage blessed by the Pope when we were in Rome. I found information about the Pope's Wednesday blessings and buying tickets. I also found if you were newly weds (less then six months and wore your wedding attire) you could get special white tickets, but nothing for us who are celebrating our 10 year aniversary.

Anyone with any ideas?

Everything you stated is true with the exception of the tickets. The tickets are free for the Wednesday general audience meeting with the Pope. Happy Aniversary!!! Mike

thanks, the free part wasnt very clear. Do you know of how to get your marriage blessed personally by the Pope if you are already married?

Go to santasusanna.org (the American church in Rome) and send them an email of your request/desire. They have been helpful to us in the past. We had our 20th Anniversay blessed by the Pope (including a personal plaque), but that was arranged by a personal NUN friend stationed in Rome at the time (nearly 15 years ago). Good Luck, Mike

I would write a letter to the North American College Bishop's Office for North American Visitors in Rome.

North American College - Casa Santa Maria
Via dell'Umiltà, 30 – 00187 Rome, Italy. Their email is:

Explain that it is your 10th Anniversary and that you would very much like to have your marriage blessed by the Pope at the Wed. Audience on (state specific day). A letter from your parish priest enclosed in your letter couldn't hurt. Even if you don't get the special tickets that allow you up on stage to be personally blessed by the Pope, you will get other tickets, probably some good seats, and be able to attend the audience at the end of which the Pope will bless you all anyway. It is a memorable occasion in any event. Congratulations!

Santa Susanna will provide tickets to the general audience but it is the North American College that is now granting tickets to the very special masses like Easter and Christmas and Canonizations. They have better access to the special seating tickets which may allow you up on stage with the Pope.

I agree 100% with Grinisa as you should send it to the attention of Monsignor Roensch. I met the Monsignor last Easter as I received my tickets from him for all the Pope's events during Holy Week. He also invited me and another couple to a private Mass at his chapel. He then drove us to the American College for an extensive persoal tour of the place. It was truly a memorable time. I've recently wrote to him for tickets for next Easter's Holy Week Events with the Pope. I do pray for the Pope's health. Good Luck, Mike

Thanks for all the great information!

Mike, would you and I be able to communicate via email? It sounds like your relationship might be able to provide us an introduction to Monsignor Roensch.

Kinda off the subject, but my wife and I are very active in our church, we even make the sacramental wine the church uses all year long.

Having our marriage blessed by the Pope would mean alot

my email is [email protected]
