La Tartaruga, via del Monte della Farina, 53 (tel 06/6869473). A wine bar with a low key atmosphere and very nice food.
At Orso 80, via dell'Orso, 33, tel 06/6864904 for the house antipasto. You may not want to order a second course.
Antica Taverna, Via Monte Giordano, 12, tel 06/68801053.
Great casual and lively atmosphere, hard to find on a narrow winding street.

Does (the message header of) this post seem a little rude to you? Lie someone standing in a public square with a bullhorn bradcasting "Attention K-mart shoppers".
A header like this suggests that the poster has something to tell the rest of "us", worthy of stopping to read.
A request for help and information would be much better phrased in the form of a question, maybe even with "please"?
Since this is your eleventh post in 6 weeks, Lola (with over half of them bearing a message header "screaming" in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS), perhaps you would be so kind as to review the FAQs, listed when you click on "HELP" (in tiny little red letters at the top lefthad corner of the screen). I would direct you, in particular, to http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm#Q6 - - where Fodors explains (my own added emphasis)...
"Finally, create a title - make sure it is concise and clearly describes your message (and destination, if applicable)
Best wishes,
Rex

Near the Spanish Steps and under 30E pp are Buca di Ripetta on Via Ripetta and Fiaschetteria Beltrame on Via della Croce. Not to miss restaurants, in ascending order of cost: Pizzeria da Baffeto on Via Governo Vecchio, Trattoria dar Pallaro, Largo di Pallaro near Campo di Fiore, Ditirambo, Piazza della Cancelleria and Checchino dal 1887, Testaccio.

I was disappointed when I read the content of the request. With the screaming headline, I expected to be told of some terrifc new finding, like "foodies have better sex lives than other people" or "foodies have smarter children than diet fanatics".(Both these things are true, BTW...at least, I am pretty sure they are based on the statistical reliability of a survey of me and all my foodie friends).
But having vented, let me now add to the wealth of human knowledge about restaurants in Rome. Try the Trattoria Abruzessi, off Via Nazionale, up the street from St. Paul-within-the-Walls.

Re: Lie someone standing in a public square with a bullhorn bradcasting "Attention K-mart shoppers".
First of all, I'm confused. By "lie someone standing" do you mean that you would take an upright person and put them in a prone position...or did you mean to say that you would tell an untruth to that upright person? And second, I hate it when someone casts brads, especially in public square. Those little nails can really hurt especially if it's a warm day and you have bare feet!
Now, as for restaurants near the Spanish Steps...I'll second JuneAnn's recommendation of La Rampa. It had been recommended to me by someone else here on Fodors; we went there two years ago (with two people from Paris we met at our hotel) and all of us really enjoyed it. They have a nice outdoor area.
We never ate at the restaurant part of the Enoteca Antica on via della Croce, but we loved their delicious, if not extensive, antipasto selections.
