Attending Mass in Paris

I'll be in Paris for three Sundays in July. I'm planning to attend Mass at
Notre-Dame one day, of course. Any recommendations for the other two
Sundays? I know all Masses count but as long as I'm in a city with a
zillion churches, I might as well go to some really spectacular ones! BTW,
my French is good enough that I can attend services and follow what's going
on. Merci!
Try St. Sulpice -- great organ (history of famous organists) -- with a short (30 minute?) recital after Sunday Mass (I believe it's around 11 am).

On both our trips to Paris we attended services at La Madeleine (most recently for Holy Thursday two years ago) - it is a beautiful and historic church, with frequent masses and concerts. But you might also enjoy one of the smaller neighborhood churches where non-tourists are more likely to worship. And, of course, there's Sacre Coeur . . .

Salut Therese !

I'm in the same situation as you! I've found that the preaching at St.-Germain-des-Pres is stirring & uplifting. I never miss the opportunity of compline or vigil Mass at St. Gervais-St. Protais (check their monastic shop behind the church, closed Sundays). The Jerusalem Community's rule of life is worth picking up in English.

Also, if you're in an especially pious mood, the Chapelle de la Medaille Miraculeuse on the famous rue du Bac is moving - not necessary during worship, but just seeing the popular devotions...

Have a fun, blessed trip!

Attended Christmas Day Mass at St. Germain-des-Pres this year and it was lovely. Wonderful singing and I could almost follow the sermon. The most fun was the procession we all went on to visit the Creche. Stop by the Cafe Bonaparte after Mass.

I too like Saint-Germain des Pres. Try also Sacre Coeur in Montmartre. St. Louis close to Place des Vosges

St Etienne du Mont has a spectacular pipe organ, as well as a magnificent interior. I attended a concert there, but not a Mass.

Would like to attend a mass at Notre Dame on a weekday-any idea of the times of the masses?

We were just in Paris and attended mass at St. Eustache near les Halles. We had found the recommendations in a couple of guide books that suggested it for the combo of a beautiful church, marvelous choral music and a great organ.
