Atrina Traditional Houses Santorini

Does anyone know anything about the Atrina Traditional Houses in Oia? I can't find anything about them other than their website and one report on Trip Advisor. It looks very nice on their website, but we all know how misleading that can be. I tried typing it in as a search here, and nothing came up.

Brotherleelove! Can you give a girl some advice? If Atrina isn't all it appears, I'm probably going to go with Esperas. But Atrina is less expensive. I know... you get what you pay for... Is it too good to be true?

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I've never seen the Atrina. Judging by the photos in their website it's a very nice boutique hotel. It's situated on the south end of Oia, just about as far from Esperas as you can get and still be in Oia. It shares the same exquisite caldera view that Katikies and Perivolas have. The view from Esperas is more westerly although just as wonderful. It's just a leisurely stroll into the heart of the village from the Atrina, so if you like the way it looks I say go for it.

Just so you know, almost all of these hotels' rooms look pretty much alike with only a few exceptions. My favorite is the Aspaki Suites. They at least show some refreshing originality in the decor.

Have a look:

Thank you so much Brotherleelove! I appreciate it. It's a little nerve-wracking planning a vacation to a country where you've never been (exciting though too).

One last question, if you don't mind. On your advice, I'm going to book Aegean Airlines between Athens and Santorini. We're planning to fly back to Athens the day before we catch our early-morning flight back to the U.S. We'll be there in early June. Is there little worry that we'll end up not being able to get back to Athens that day? I ask for 2 reasons. 1. Because I'm used to living where if one flight is cancelled, there's another one in an hour, so no worries and 2. My poor niece is frantically trying to replan her entire wedding because she just found out that Olympic is cancelling all flights to Syros beginning in May.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are a god-send to anyone visiting Santorini!

Obviously it's not possible to know if the flight will be cancelled, but I can tell you that Aegean has a much better performance reputation than Olympic.

Your "ace in the hole" is that if your flight does get cancelled you can still make it back to Athens on time by using the highspeed ferry from Santorini to Mykonos and another plane or ferry to Athens from there, or by using the car ferry from Santorini to Athens.

There's also always a remote possibility that you can catch a later flight (Aegean or Olympic), but that's remote because those flights are usually full.

With that in mind try to book an early flight back to Athens to give yourself as much time as possible to adjust to "Plan B."

By the way, I know an excellent wedding planner in Oia if your neice wants to consider it.

Thanks Brotherleelove! It looks like my niece is opting to get married at one of the beach resorts outside Athens.

I will pack my bags and remember my motto "It is what it is" and stop worrying about things that may or may not happen.

Yes, Vera, Markos Karvounis. How do you know him? He's been a friend for over 20 years.
