ATM in Lisbon?

I don't have a specific memory of ATMs in the Lisbon airport as I arrived with some euros from Spain. I just wanted to post my experience in Lisbon with ATMs in general, which is that my ATM-only card would not work in any of them. Fortunately, I had gotten a debit card shortly before my trip, and that worked fine.
Another oddity I found was that I could not pay for my prescription in a pharmacy with a credit card. It is apparently a law or regulation of some sort. Having left my debit card in the hotel, I was left with a dilemma that was solved when the pharmacist walked me to a neighboring hotel and the desk clerk agreed to let me use my credit card in exchange for some cash.

There are ATM machines at Lisbon airport. First time I had issues pulling money, as my bank thought that it was a fraudulent transaction, until it cleared off, so I now call my bank everytime I go abroad to make sure they put it in the system so I don't have any issues.....you might want to do that as well with your bank.

As you exit the Arrivals area at Lisbon's Portela airport (Customs & Passport Control) there are several ATM's on your left. They're all in a small alcove off the main passage way; so they're easy to miss if you are not looking for them.
As I recall, there's also a Bureau de Change on your right - much more visible but also much more expensive for exchanging your US Dollars for Euros.

johnb,
we arrived at the airport on a Monday, and although there were atm machines, we couldn't get any money from them. This wasn't good as we were supposed to pay the remainder of our apt rental to the owner in cash upon arrival. Thank goodness, Paulo was such a gem and just told us to pay him whenever we could get the money. We finally were able to, but it took several tries throughout the day. We thought it strange, but since we didn't have any other problems within the following days, we just thought it was some sort of fluke.......
Until the next monday. We were on our way to meet up with our tour and needed to pay in cash. We tried every atm along the way (probably at least 10) to no avail. Same scenario. Again, our tour operator just said to pay him later. Once we got to Obidos, the atm worked fine and we were able to pay him. Both Paulo and our tour operator said that sometimes the atm's just run out of money from the weekend and come Monday morning they've yet to be replenished. I guess that is why they weren't very worried about it; must just be a common thing.
Moral of the story: just beware of atm w/d's on Mondays!

I don't know if you'll see this message but you choose the perfect timing to come.
From tomorrow to 13th April, the will be the Lisbon Fish and Shellfish festival in Terreiro do Paço in Lisbon.
The entrance is 15 euros, including a welcome menu and a glass to drink as much wine as you wish. Additional menus cost from 5 to 8 euros.
The working hours are 12:00 to 23:00 (Monday to Friday) and 11:00 to 23:00 (Saturdays and Sundays)
