Athens / Paros flights
We are traveling to Paros for the summer. I have booked flights on Olympic from Athens to Paros, and am also looking at return flights Athens to catch our flight back to the US. Is it still risky to fly back into Athens the same day as your international flights? I am hearing Olympic is much more reliable with the privatization, but yet I hear that some of the small island routes may be taken over by another airline. Can someone please advise so I can decide between a flight or ferry? Thanks so much!

People take the same-day flights all the time without incident or cancellation. There's just no way to know for sure, but in general it's a minor risk. If your travel is in July or August there would be a larger risk of delays or cancellations if you were to choose to take the ferry, since that's the time of year when ferries are cancelled due to high winds. No other airline will be taking over for Olympic on flights to and from Paros.

Thank you! For the past few years I have learned so much from your posts on various sites, and here you are helping me!
Flights are pretty reasonable and we can avoid paying a night in an Athens hotel, so that's what we'll go with.
Thanks again...

That is total nonsense, can't believe this sort of reply.
There are something like 5 large ferries per day between Piraeus and Paros. Even if one is cancelled there are 4 others, Ferries are NOT regularly cancelled it's very rare. Many times I've taken same day ferries back to Piraeus for a flight, all that is necessary is to leave 1 ferry in hand, with 5 a day, no problem.
I've been going to Paros for some 30 years amongst many islands, not 1 ferry has been cancelled on those Paros > Piraeus ferries I have taken.

We'll be Paros on June 14 and are planning on taking the ferry back to Athens that gets in around 9:45PM. I also searched for flights on the day but cannot come up with anything. Are there any other airlines besides Olympic) that might service that route? I tried Aegean but they don't seem to have that route. Thank you very much.
