Athens-Mykonos-Naxos-Santorini - What not to miss?
My fiancee and I are leaving for our honeymoon to Greece in a few weeks. I have been reading up on past posts but want to make sure we aren't missing anything. We are staying at the Divani Acropolis (Athens), Mykonos Grand, Porto Naxos, and Esperas (Santorini). Any last minute advice? Restaurants to eat at? Places to visit? Things to do? I would definitely appreciate any comments/suggestions! thanks in advance -

In Oia on Santorini "1800," the "Oia Cafe-Restaurant" and "Ambrosia" all have excellent gourmet cuisine. For traditional food, a place where the locals eat, try "Neptune."

In Mykonos, take a boat to Delos. If you can, pick a day when the sea is not too rough. It was when we went, but we survived and the trip was well worth it. Fascinating ruins. Take some drinking water along.

My husband and I were in Greece in 2001 (and I was in Athens and Santorini last May on a cruise). You can view my journal and restaurant listings (don't miss Lucky's in Fira!!!) at my web site http://greece2001mjp.homestead.com/greece2001.html.
We were disappointed in Akrotiri, but hopefully the excavations have expanded.
There are two very small museums on Santorini, which I enjoyed on my last visit. You only need about 30 minutes for each of them.
And don't miss Oia! Fabulous little town and very quiet compared to Fira.
On Naxos, we rented a car for the day and drove around the island. Found a great place for lunch.

Congratulations Greecehoneymoon!
I went to church yesterday and the sermon is still within my heart...
I need to say that because my answer to you is to not miss being with one another!
Last Minute Advice:
Pack candles, bring sexy cassettes and cd's...surprise him/her with a re-play of your wedding song/songs...Tape a surprise honeymoon greeting from his/her favorite people...
Feed each other...Being newly married in Greece is next to being royalty.
Take Loads of photos together...I know, the last thing you want to do after the wedding photo marathon is take MORE photos together...you will be glad that you did...ask people to take the two of you...ask lots...
Toast one another...toast at breakfast toast at lunch and toast at dinner...It will become something that you will do to/for one another for years to come!
Ignore what others say...
Try and not argue OR worry about money or who showed up or acted up at the wedding...You have a lifetime to do this.
Resist the urge to call home...Ignore the "concerns" that folks will feel compelled to "share" with you about the Olympics and the bombs and , and, and...
Remember to smell the roses and to love each other with all you have.
I will not suggest restaurants because you just have to go with what the kind and beautiful folks of Greece will tell you...they will literally and lovingly take you down the street to where they want you to eat!

We stayed 4 weeks and my hubby added two more weeks in Turkey as a surprise...
Oh, ha-ha, was I surprised(!)....no worries. I'll tell you all about that when you get back if you want...
Oh, each of you keep a journal. Convert what you what from those journals into a trip report for us at Fodors...keep the rest for each other and share them on your one year Anniversary...Turns out me and hubby had two different honeymoons...a year later we could take that truth...laugh!

Hi, In Mykonos make sure you have dinner whilst watching the sunset at the seaside tavernas near the windmills. Verrrry romantic. In Santorini, we also stayed at Esperas and thought it was absolutely wonderful. A great honeymoon venue. We ate dinner twice at a restaurant called Santorini Mou, the lovely staff at Esperas will tell you where it is. Good local Greek food, the owner plays bouzouki and sings and we danced with the waiters. We didn't do as much in Santorini as we should of, because we couldn't tear ourselves from the view. Have a wonderful honeymoon.
