Athens, Greece to Ephesus, Turkey

We shall end a cruise in Athens. Would like to go to Ephesus, then Istanbul (3-4 days).
And return to the USA after that. What is the easiest way from Athens to Ephesus?

The easiest way would probably be to fly from Athens to Izmir, Turkey and then rent a car for the hour or so drive to Ephasus (a nice, easy drive). Pegasus Airlines flies from Athens to Izmir for a relatively low price if you book ahead. We used them for a flight from Istanbul to Izmir roundtrip in February and couldn't have been more pleased...the flight was inexpensive, the plane was new and modern and we departed/landed on time. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

In addition to tcreath's very good advice, i recommend that you extend your visit to two days in Ephesus area, staying in Sirince or the small hotels in Selcuk, Bella or Nazhan, and three days in istanbul if you can. Otherwise, it is likely that you will want to come back.

Athens-Istanbul_ızmir or Athens-Izmir-Istanbul
works both ways well and equally easy. You just have to compare timing and rates.

Happy travelling,
